Dear Visitors
Dear Colleagues
Siegfried AG and the University of Zurich (UZH), the Institute of Organic Chemistry, and the Laboratory for Process Research (LPF) invite you to join them for the 5th Siegfried Symposium.
The symposium serves as a platform for the presentation of the internationally recognized Siegfried Medal, awarded jointly by UZH and Siegfried for outstanding research in the field of chemical process development.
Thanks to an exciting new partnership with the Swiss Chemical Society, we have a second highly esteemed award lecture on the program, the renown and venerable Sandmeyer Prize lecture. We welcome the President of the SCS, Peter Kundig and representatives of KPMG, financial sponsors of the Sandmeyer Prize, to present this award. We look forward to continued cooperation in this venture.
Rounding out the full day event in honor of chemistry “on scale”, outstanding speakers from several leading companies will delve into the world of process development. The speakers will offer insight into the technologies and strategies that make global pharma production a reality. In addition to the lectures, during morning assembly, as well as the complimentary breakfast and lunch, we encourage you to visit the posters session, where vignettes of specific chemical interest can be found.
Of exports and trade for Switzerland, roughly 40% revolve around the chemical and pharma industry. The health of this historically important industry depends on fundamental science technical innovation and a highly educated human resource pool. Thus is forged an integral bond between industry and academia.
Close cooperation between academia and industry makes good business sense, sound social policy, and oriented advanced training. Breakthroughs in fundamental chemical science discovered at universities can be developed into chemical process by industry quickly and efficiently, each sector leveraging its core competences. Siegfried enjoys such a longstanding cooperation with the University of Zurich's Laboratory for Process Research (LPF). The Siegfried Symposium stems from this very positive cooperation and makes an important step toward strengthening interest in chemistry and process research.
We look forward to seeing you all soon in Zurich for this special event.
